I had several expresso machines of different degrees of auto functions. This provides what you need: the amount of coffe you want, how strong do you want it, the type of grind you want.
You have the options of using full beans or grinded coffee that can act as a secondary coffee bin ready to use if you don't want what you have in the whole beans. It then provides manual options as you may need.
It actually tells you on the LED when needs water or coffe or cleaning, and when you should change the water filter.
I did not give it a 5 because of the steam, the steam produces good steam and also froth but the mechanism to change from steam to froth and to turn off was not practical for me.

I bought this machine refurbished as an upgrade from an inexpensive machine. I have to say "WOW". This is a well designed system. I really love the progam feaure that allows you to brew a single or double shot just by pushing a button. No more watching until your cup is filled to the right level.
Whether using pods or ground espresso, the Breville brews as good a cup as I've had.
I like the all stainless steamer/frother. It is easier to clean as the end disassembles from the wand.
I haven't had much use for the hot water feature, and if I were redesigning this unit I would leave it out.
The all stainless construction is attractive and utilitarian. Sturdy and lends itself to easy cleanup.

I have owned this product for one year and before completing the one year anniversary two pieces broke and the spill catcher tray is tarnished and peeling. This machine manual was easy to follow. My husband and I use it daily to make two double shots of espresso sometimes three. At the sixth month mark a very small screw that was holding the filter and gasket together inside the group head came loose and would not stay put thereafter. We visited our local hardware store to avoid having to contact the company and could not find one single screw to match this delicate beast of a machine. The store representative recommended we use a special product that worked as a glue to hold the screw in; however, we did not want to use any product that would possibly contaminate the water.

At the seventh month mark the rubber-like gasket inside the group head teared and due to the useless screw (mentioned above) it no longer stays put inside the group head. Any time I have to pull the gasket out before making a fresh batch of espresso I risk burn injury because I do not have the time to turn the machine off and let it cool down.

Also, at an unknown date, the metal tray that holds the spilled water is becoming tarnished and is peeling off. I cannot clean the tarnish away and since I do not drink directly from the tray I do not concern myself with contamination but it made me increasingly dissatisfied with this product.

I cannot find the company's contact information online or elsewhere and am hoping to find another commentator who is willing to share this information with me. If you purchase this item add the warranty, if available.

This item was originally purchased as a wedding anniversary gift to my husband who relies on super strong coffee each day to allow him to function properly (He is a scientist). It bothered me that Amazon did not have the item in stock for several months after I purchased it (Purchased in July and received it in November). My purchase was based on affordability and reliability. We do our best to make our daily espresso considering the time we spend on reattaching damaged pieces unnecessarily. In my opinion machine shakiness or noise are irrelevant if there is a decent cup of coffee involved. Other than the issues mentioned previously everything else seems to function properly. When considering a new espresso machine, which is unfortunate, I would not purchase this brand again. Please note this product was made in China; hence the affordability. My husband had a very significant Starbucks habit prior to our acquisition of this coffee maker. We live in NYC, and every weekend morning he would get dressed and go out to get his favorite morning fix of coffee. We were looking for a new coffee maker, and my sister in law told us about Nespresso. She had had a machine of theirs for a number of years.

At first I was put off by the cost of the pods, but when I measured that against what my husband was spending on coffee, it wasn't even close. And yes, the coffee is that good. Even the decaf is good - we use the Intenso - as a decaf drinker, I always wonder why decaf coffee is always so weak - just because we don't want or can't have caffeine, doesn't mean we don't like the taste of coffee!

We picked the D290 because it has a built in milk frother - again this was on the good advice of my sister in law. It makes for one stop latte/cappuccinos - no muss, no fuss. You can get a separate pitcher to froth the milk, but if you really want this to be easy, have one machine do it all.

Man I never thought I'd spend $500 on a coffee maker, but we've had this machine for several months now, and are still thrilled with it. Both my husband and I had surgery lately, having such good coffee right at hand made our convalescence a much nicer experience. There is a Nespresso store right in our neighborhood (E 60s) but I recently ordered online as neither of us is very ambulatory right now, and it was a quick and lovely experience. I talked to customer service - I am a former store manager, I trained so many people in what good customer service looks like, I have a very low threshold of pain for bad service. Nespresso service was as nice an experience as it could possibly be. These people have got it right.

A truly wonderful coffee maker. But $1,200 (what we paid)for a "coffee pot???" Is it worth it? It depends.

If you are a "StarBucks regular," like we were, then the answer's a resounding yes. We've had our B30 for 13 months. Figuring $5 a day if we'd done our usual daily "StarBucks stop," our B30 paid for itself in nine months Now, we're actually saving $ with it! (-:

For me, coffee is coffee; I drink it to wake up. But my wife is really into it and she thinks a brew from the B30 equals anything she's had in Italy.

It's really difficult to think of it being any easier. I get up and it's already turned on. I flip the switch to "double XXL coffee" and push a button. Beans are measured and ground, pressurised hot water courses through the grinds and into my cup, grounds are dumped into an internal container and it's ready to go again. I switch to "double expresso" and press the button again. That whole process takes less than 1 1/2 minutes!

It tells you when to add water, when to empty the tray containing grounds, when to change the filter and when to clean it.

What??? For 1,200 bucks you have to CLEAN "the pot?" Yup. You drop a cleaning tablet into a port and push a button. (-:

I can't begin to tell you how much easier this machine has made our morning.

UPDATE: It's been 15 months and 2,699 "brews" since we bought it. STILL works flawlessly. Again, figuring four "brews" equals $5 each morning @ Starbucks (actually, we spent more but leaving the extra $ out covers the cost of beans) we've saved $3,373 by not going to Starbucks. Le Cube is so easy to use, looks great on the kitchen counter, and most importantly - the espesso is delicious. Perfect crema, no burnt taste. This machine is amazing, so easy to use and has easily paid for itself since I don't need to go to starbucks anymore!
